Making Leprosy History, Cambodia

Leprosy can be cured easily if detected early.  Run by CIOMAL, this large scale programme provides a wide range of services and support for leprosy sufferers.

This includes free access to medical care, physical, medical and surgical rehabilitation for 250 inpatients for about two months each.  There is also outpatient care for 1000, advocacy work to improve recognition of the symptoms and prevent disabilities. CIOMAL enhances the impact by working with the Ministries of Health and Social Affairs to follow up with patients, capacity-build locally amongst health professionals and assist with socio-economic rehabilitation (study grants, micro-credit for small businesses and farming).
