Meals on Wheels, Romania

Poor social support systems in Romania make it very difficult for many elderly people in the country to look after themselves, and many are not able to buy their own food.

Meals on Wheels Romania sends social workers to households to find the most serious cases of need and provide a hot meal daily to maintain the health of elderly beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries of the programme are restrained at home due to their medical condition, with incomes well below the minimum necessary to survive and have no help from family members.
