On Thursday 23 April, Order of Malta leaders from around the world heard from HE Count Georg von Khevenhüller Metsch, President of Malteser Hilfsdienst, as he described Malteser’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Global Fund for Forgotten People’s fourth virtual ‘Reports from the Frontline’ conference.
Georg described how the pandemic has affected Germany, the extensive and innovative way Malteser Germany’s volunteers are working to mitigate its effects and the lessons they are learning for future crises. He emphasised the role of the “united family” of the Order, and in particular his desire to see the tremendous volunteer resource more effectively used in service of those in need in the future.
