On Thursday 2 April Order of Malta leaders from around the world gathered virtually to hear senior members of the Italian Relief Service describe the ongoing action of the Order in Italy in the Covid-19 health and humanitarian crisis.

Hosted by Lisa Simpson, Chief Executive of the Global Fund for Forgotten People, the conference heard from Gerardo Solaro del Borgo, President of the Italian Relief Service, and Luca Rovati, Hospitaller of the Italian Association and Board Member of the Italian Relief Service. They described the process of building two new hospitals to care for critically ill patients in Italy, their hopes for the future, and the heartbreaking challenges faced by workers on the frontline.
